Harjit Singh Locham (Bipal) completed an Ironman Triathlon held at Sacramento, California on October 27 in 2024.
He’s the first Indian to complete this Ironman triathlon in 16 hours 43.29mins under the age group of 60-65 years; which consisted of a 3.9km swimming, 180.2km bicycle ride and a 42.2km run. It is widely considered one of the most difficult one-day sporting events in the world!
At 64 years old, this remarkable individual has an impressive history of endurance events, showcasing his dedication to fitness and perseverance. His journey includes completing the 2019 Ragnar Niagara, a challenging relay race from Cobourg to Niagara Falls, and the 2020 Great Virtual Race Across Tennessee, covering a vast distance virtually. In 2021, he took on the Big Canadian Run, a virtual 8,000-km journey across Canada.
His accomplishments extend to triathlons, having completed the 2023 Half-Ironman (Ironman 70.3) in Geneva, New York, followed by the grueling 2024 Ironman 140.6 in Sacramento, California. Alongside these major events, he has completed four full marathons and six half-marathons over the years. His endurance is further highlighted by his participation in the CN Tower stair climb 7 to 8 times, demonstrating his commitment to both running and overall physical fitness.
