My name is Jasvinder Singh Dhaliwal (Jassi), and running the Niagara Falls Marathon was a life-changing achievement for me, but my journey to get there was not easy. I used to drink alcohol regularly, but everything changed when I got the opportunity to take the Art of Living breathing course in 2014.
That experience transformed my mindset, and I decided to quit alcohol and focus on physical activities instead. I started going to the gym, running, and practicing yoga, eventually earning a yoga certification. Over time, I developed a deep passion for running and began participating in races, starting with 10K and 15K runs. As my endurance improved, I pushed myself further and completed six half marathons. Determined to take on an even greater challenge, I set my sights on running a full marathon—42K in 2024. However, during my training, I suffered an injury that set me back for four months.
Despite the setback, I remained committed, recovered, and resumed my preparation. In addition to running, I also challenged myself every year by climbing the CN Tower’s 1,776 stairs, further building my strength and endurance. Finally, on October 27, 2024, I completed the Niagara Falls 42K Marathon in an incredible 4 hours, 9 minutes, and 49 seconds. This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of the TPAR Club, who helped me stay motivated throughout my journey.
